SEM Strategy: Affiliate Compliance Part 1. What Your Affiliate Networks SHOULD NOT Do

A good portion of search engine marketing and website marketing strategy involves creating relationships with affiliates to help promote your website through promotion codes all over the Internet. As Google and Bing start crafting optimized search results, you need a strong affiliate marketing program to help get your target demographic to your online business to buy your services or products.

When your Internet marketers look to building affiliate networks, one of the things they will have to pay keen attention to are affiliate compliance issues. There are a few reasons behind this. The biggest one is ensuring the affiliates do not/will not do anything out of compliance with the search engine rules and government rules. You do not want your company getting into trouble with the government because of some activity an affiliate does on your behalf. Your online business also wants to avoid violating search engine rules because if you are caught, it will essentially kill your website.

Next, your search engine marketing person or team is going to want to be sure the affiliates aren’t shady and won’t promote your products in areas you would prefer your company not be associated with.

A seasoned affiliate marketing expert will know how to draft agreements that restrict the affiliate networks from using website advertising copy, techniques, or press releases that could harm your company’s reputation, also, which is supremely important to maintaining your company’s reputation.

Finally, one last thing you need to make sure your affiliate network shouldn’t do is fraudulent clicking. You pay for each click, and out of that, they make a commission per click. If the affiliate network is shady, they might hire someone just to click on your links and score them some free cash. You should have rules set to restrict this kind of activity, and an experienced affiliate marketer to stop this nonsense immediately.
